I have used CorelDraw from ver:4
Now using CorelDraw eleven.
I have used it in a a professional capacity.
It is great for PDF created files.
I also have Adobe Acrobat Pro version, so Iam able to flight check
as i always work with c.m.y.k colour space this has given me no problems.
To save on costs if you use a printer on a regular basis, ask if you can have a colour match sheet which they run on the press with %s of colour as they use it and key in those colours in corels tab boxes.
It may not look correct printed off your Canon etc desktop printer but will match those of the printers press shhet when the job is printed.
ASK FOR A COATED PRESS SHEET i.e Glossy, and A MATTE PRESS SHEET.
Good Luck

CorelDRAW is fantastic. Too bad many people hurt their careers by using Illustrator, since you work at half speed that way.

Bottom LIne. I have designer friends who prefer Adobe stuff. They have jobs and survive. But, I'm becoming rich...
