Freelancers: Get Your Burning Business Questions Answered
Author of this post: Ilise Benun | About Blog Authors »1. How can you make time for marketing?
2. Should you have an e-mail newsletter?
3. Are proposals best presented in person?
These are just a few of the pressing questions that will be answered by creative business experts at the Creative Freelancer Conference
in Chicago, August 27-29, hosted by HOW Magazine and Marketing Mentor.
But I’ll give you the short answers right here:
1. How can you make time for marketing?
Schedule it into your day, just like you would a client project. And
first thing in the morning is better than later in the day because you
know what happens…
2. Should you have an e-mail newsletter?
You need some way to stay in touch with prospects and clients on a
regular basis and an email newsletter is one of the least expensive ways to do so. (I’ll be showing examples of excellent freelancer newsletters in my presentation, “Building a Well-Oiled Marketing Machine.” Details here: http://www.creativefreelancerconference.com/sessions/
3. Are proposals best presented in person?
Yes, definitely. That way you can make sure they get all the details,
which you know they won’t do if you send it via email. And don’t ask if you can; just tell your prospect this is how you do it. Here’s what you say: “I’ll have the proposal ready by next Monday so let’s schedule a short meeting to go over it. Are you free at 11 AM?”
This is a tiny taste of what you’ll learn at the conference. We’ve
designed a program that focuses on skills critical to freelance success, on topics ranging from pricing, marketing and building client relationships, to crafting proposals and contracts, maintaining a work/life balance and more. And that’s not all. There will also be breakfast roundtables both mornings (you can lead one if you want), really fun networking events and one-on-one expert reviews of attendee portfolios, proposals and marketing materials.
Lots more info and articles posted on the Resource page of the
conference site: http://www.creativefreelancerconference.com/resources/
Not to mention the CreativeFreelancerBlog.com where the speakers are previewing their topics each week.
And don’t forget that the early bird deadline to save $60 off the conference fee is July 15. Sign up now here:
